Camp Dates and Needs

Hey Everyone,

I hope this email finds you well and ready for summer as much as we are! Quick update on what's going on....

CAMP CAMP CAMP- We have 4 camps this summer

June 24th-30th- Lost Canyon with our Dana Hills Club- 15 people

July 1st-5th- Woodleaf with the High Rollers- 33 people

July 5th-10th- Oakbridge with Wyldlife (Jr High)- 8 people

Aug 23rd-26th- Oakbridge with Capernaum Beyond- 24 people

We have almost 100 people going to camp this summer from our area. Please be praying for our friends who are going and please pray especially for the leaders going with them. Pray for strength, energy, patience, and most of all love to be flowing from our leaders.

We have kids from all kids of backgrounds and stories going. Below is just a picture of some of the kids going......

• One girl we are taking just got out of Juvenal hall. Has no relationship with Jesus has never been to church came to club a couple times at the end of the year. Religion freaks her out but she likes the leaders and is excited to get to go to camp.

• Another girl just this week got out of the hospital for attempted suicide.

• We have a hand full of kids in treatment for drug addiction

• We have a handful of kids currently drug addicted

• Most of our kids little to no parent support or involvement.

• Another student has been evicted from multiple apartments this year with her family. Has little to no support at home and is constantly put down.

• We have several special need students who have NEVER gone to anything like this before. Leaving home for the 1st time!

We are able to bring these kids because we have donors like you! We are able to share Jesus with these friends because you have partnered with us in this ministry.

Capernaum Beyond is a Hoot!!!

Birthday Club

This past Wednesday High Rollers had Birthday Club. Two of our leaders made 70 cupcakes to help celebrate everyone's birthdays. What a special surprise!

Blue Gnu

Just a couple weeks ago we played a game we call "Blu Gnu." How this works is we all show up to the mall. From there everyone is divided up into teams and are given the search sheet. On that sheet are who they are looking for. For example this year they had to find a squirrel, a pig, a cow, a surfer, a lifeguard, a mummy, and several others. Lastly they also have to find the Blu Gnu. The Blu Gnu is someone who they have never met. They are wearing something blue that represents the Blu Gnu but they dont know what they blue item is so they have to ask anyone wearing blue if they are the Blu Gnu. For our friends in Capernaum we had the Blu Gnu wear out blue graduation shirt from last year. The game was a huge success and with over 100 people playing, we basically took over the mall. We had some friends from Mountain View Church help us out with being our characters in the mall.

We ended the night by having some ice cream cones from Ruby's. Thanks Ruby's!!!

Mega Club

On April 25th we brought both clubs together for a Rocking Mega Club. It truly was a rocking club! We had a full house with a full band playing music, a huge mixer, program, an upfront game, and lastly even a talk. It was a super fun night. As part of the night we had a Glow Stick Dance Party which is pictured below. Our Capernaum friends loved the night and and for the leaders it was another successful super fun club!

Merging Together

Hey Everyone,

We have some exciting news.....OC Capernaum is merging with South County Young Life!!

South County YL is a typical YL area that is working in the same schools and areas we are. The decision was made over the last 6 months. 

The main reason for merging was to reach more kids to introduce them to Jesus. 

Nothing will be changing as far as the day to day operations for High Rollers and Capernaum Beyond. The changes will come more with administration. Your tax receipts will now say "South County" instead of OC Capernaum. I am still the Area Director and Rachel is still on staff as well. I will be the overall Area Director for South County. Our new area now consists of everything from Lake Forest/ El Toro Area south to San Clemente and parts of San Juan Capistrano.

We are all very excited for this change and this means we will be able to introduce even more students to Jesus Christ.

Baby Rylee Rae Jansen

So as some of you may know and some of may not know but the Jansen's had their first child on March 28th.

Rylee Rae Jansen was born at 9:28am weighing 5 lbs. 15oz. and was 18" long. She is healthy and beautiful!

Thanks to those who have already shown her and us so much love!

All Region Club

The Young Life region had an all region club a week ago at Point Loma Nazarene University. We had a small group from OC Capernaum respresent us. Here are a few pics from the night.

Golf Marathon 2012

On March 26th, OC Capernaun launched into another golf marathon to raise funds for the area. We had an awesome team of 5 guys who spent the day golfing. Our team consisted of Joel Ray, Trevor Cummings, Brian Dubia, Mark Schaeffer, and Ben Kaufman (not pictured).

Thank you for contributing to the golf marathon to help raise money for the area. We couldn't have had such a successful event without contributions from you!

Carnival Night

Within our March Madness our second week was a carnival night. We had a bunch of volunteers come in to our leaders could hang with our capernaum friends. We had a bunch of games and even an Idol practice room. The night was an awesome time. Praise God for brining together the resources and people!

OC Capernaum Meets SD Capernaum

This weekend some of our fabulous leaders took some of their friends down to San Diego to hang out for the day. While down there they met up with some of our other SD Capernaum friends at the beach. Fun times immediately followed!!
